Lesson 1

Why Technology in Education?

Let's start by watching these videos and thinking over their messages

Is it really important to use technology in education? Why?

Will it really help my students learn more and better if I use different ICT (Information and Communication Technology) resources or tools? In what ways?

Am I ready to use technology in the classroom? Do I really know how to do it?

Do we really need technology to transform education? Reflect upon this.

GET DOWN TO WORK

If you are planning to use a tech tool in your lesson then you should be aware of the fact that first, you should plan your lesson and then look for the right resource to use according to what you have already planned.  It's not the other way round: choosing the ICT tool and then planning your lesson around the that tool.

When planning to include tech tools in your lessons, we suggest following the TPACK model: a good teaching requires an understanding of how technology relates to the pedagogy and content.

READING

We usually talk about teaching language taking into account four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. They are often divided into two types. Receptive skills, reading and listening, are the skills where meaning is taken from the discourse. Productive skills, writing and speaking, are the skills where students actually produce language.

Here you will learn how to use some tools to help you improve this skill in a different and entertaining way.

Foxit Reader is a multilingual  PDF tool that can create, view, edit, digitally sign, and print PDF files. On the PDF document you can highlight ideas, add notes, typewrite, underline, etc., everything you are used to doing on the usual paper sheet.
